Dr Hendrika Tegelaar

HT

I have been working as a vet at Seaforth veterinary Hospital since 1988 having returned from Ireland in 1987.

I first graduated from Sydney Univ. in 1978 and after 1 year of mixed practice in Gerringong went traveling in Europe where I did locum work in England, married an Irishman and went to live in Ireland for 5 years before coming home to Australia and settling in the Northern Beaches - quite a change from my upbringing in Coogee.

I enjoy being a small animal general practitioner with the variety it gives. After more than 20 years I feel I have made some long term friendships with clients and of course their pets are always close to my heart..

Dr Rob Miller

RobI graduated with first class honours in theoretical physics from the Univ. of NSW Sydney Australia (1977). I completed my Ph.D. in High Energy Physics (HEP) with the University of Melbourne's HEP Group, Victoria, Australia (1979), then carried out research at the famous CERN, Geneva, Switzerland (1981) (the birth place of the world wide web!!). Next stop was at the renowned DAMTP Cambridge University England (home of Isaac newton, Stephen Hawking's and Peter Higgs), before my radical career change to Veterinary medicine. I received my BVM&S at the  Royal (Dick) Veterinary School of Studies, Edinburgh, Scotland (1990). My first position as a veterinarian was with David Callaghan and Associates (Woking, UK) for 5.5 years before I decided to return to Australia in 1995.

I began research into developing Veterinary Scientific Software (1993, UK) and this work continued in Australia in 1995 with the development of many software titles. I have written much bespoke software for SVH which underwrites much of our unique efficiency.

I became a partner at Seaforth in 2002.

Dr Libby Thompson

LibbyGraduated from Sydney Univ. in 1985 with a bachelor of Pharamacology. Then in 1990 with a bachelor of Veterinary Science.
This was followed by a short stint in mixed practice in South Australia before working as a pure small animal veterinarian at Ryde Veterinary Clinic for 9.5 years.
Libby also has an interest in art gaining her Diploma of Fine Arts from the Northern Beaches TAFE in 2004.

Libby joined Seaforth Vets in a full time position in July 2009

Dr Liz Foo

I graduated from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland in 1999 with the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine and Surgery, I am a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons and worked in the UK for 5 years with the PDSA and in private practice before returning to Australia in 2004.

I then worked within the Animal Health Industry at Novartis Animal Health as a Technical Veterinarian, the RSPCA and private practice for a further 6 years.

In addition to the veterinary degree I have also completed the (IVAS) International Veterinary Acupuncture Society certificate(2008).

I joined the team at Seaforth Veterinary Hospital in 2011.

Practice Manager Jane Molchanoff

Jane

I have been working at Seaforth Vet since 1998 when I started as a receptionist working on the front desk two days a week. I have always enjoyed working with animals in some form or other. Although I have no formal nursing qualifications, I previously worked as a vet nurse in Sydney and Edinburgh as well as at Oceanworld in Manly and for the World Wide Fund for Nature. After increasing my work days to three and becoming Head Receptionist in 2000, I then completed a Diploma in Practice Management in 2008. Although I now spend four days a week working on admin issues in the office upstairs, I still love catching up with our clients and their four-legged families in the surgery whenever I can. My own family consists of two-legged Steve, Alex (13) and Josie (11) as well mini schnauzers Rosie and Maxie, and Anna the burmese.

Head Nurse Rachel Jackson

Rachel JacksonI started working here as a volunteer back in 2004. A new career for me, I had not worked with animals before but have always felt that I get on better with them than the general human population! Fortunately for me, one of the nurses who had been here for 10 years had decided that it was time for a career change of his own, and I stepped very happily into his shoes!

I was promoted to Head Nurse in March 2010.

Nurse Chris McGrath

ChrisI have always been passionate about working with animals. After school I completed a Bachelor of Animal Science, and went on to do a Masters of Veterinary Studies where I conducted a research project on the behaviour of NSW Police dogs. However, I wanted to get more hands on experience with animals so in 2010 I completed my Cert IV in Vet Nursing. I had never worked or lived in a tick area before coming to Seaforth so this tick season has been a steep learning curve. I have two very scruffy schnauzers at home that have been very good in accepting any stray kitten or baby possum that I bring home from work to care for.

Nurse in training Elesha Forrest

I Eleshawas raised on horse back in Northeast Victoria and have spent most of my life living and working in the equine industry. I’ve worked as an equine nurse in Kentucky, USA and also in Albury-Wodonga from 2000-2006. I have a keen interest in Thoroughbred racing and rode racehorses in OZ and more recently in Epsom, UK for the past 4 years.
I moved back to OZ in September 2010 and into the city, following my partner and when the position became available at SVH for a vet nurse in October I opted for a life style change. I have found the staff and clientele at SVH to be very friendly and have settled into small animal nursing more easily than first thought. But as a massive animal lover I have already adopted 3 homeless animals from SVH, Silvia and Mona that were stray kittens and Browny the Guinea Pig.

Nurse Kate Jardine

KateJI was born and bred on Sydney’s north shore. After completing my Certificate IV vet nursing course whilst volunteering at Taronga Zoo, I moved to south east Queensland to work in large and small animal practices. I have attended a few canine behavioural seminars and five years after moving to Queensland, I am back in civilisation. I started working for Seaforth Vet Hospital in December 2010 and am the proud mum of Makeba, my kelpie and Spike and Eccles my two budgies.

Senior Nurse India Brooker

IndiaWhen India reached the tender age of 10 her mother declared that she was more likely to get puppies and kittens from her than grandchildren - how right she was! Having had 5 dogs, 6 cats, 2 horses and countless fish; India is now the very proud mum of a nutty rescue dog - Niila, two utterly spoilt rescue cats - Ty & Loti, and a kiwi - better known as her husband Ben! In 2008, after 12 years in the television industry India came to her senses, began her training to become a veterinary nurse and joined SVH. India couldn't be happier - although her mother would still like to know if she'll be getting any grandchildren!

Senior receptionist Wendii McCulloch

WendiiI began working at Seaforth in 2000. I grew up surrounded by animals on a small farm, so I've always longed to work with them, plus this position combines my years of experience as a receptionist. At home I have one black cat, Trevor, two rabbits Choccie Bean and Caramello. Most were strays from Seaforth vets, one of the hazards of working here!

Senior receptionist Belinda Yardley

BellI have lived thirty one years of my married life on five acres at Oxford Falls where I can sit in my lounge room and observe the various wildlife that fossick in our "front yard".

My husband and I share our home with Griffin the dog, two cats - Goo & Giddy, two galahs Godfrey & Crackers, and two old horses - Brally & Tessa.

I became a receptionist at Seaforth Vet Hospital eight and a half years ago and love being involved with others who share my devotion to animals. "

There are so many wonderful, funny and emotional times working at SVH. I love talking with the clients and find it so rewarding to be able to help them with their pet concerns and it fills me with joy to see rehabilitated hospital animals go home well and happy.

There are the sadder moments when I have to excuse myself to shed a tear out the back because someone's dear companion has passed away. Then, as usual, a client will wander in with a chubby, wriggling puppy or an aristocratic old cat and I am reminded that I have the best job ever.

Senior receptionist and nurse Kath Salier

Kath

I started working at Seaforth Vet in 1991 when appointments were made in a book and all credit card transactions were done manually. I had two years away in 1995 when we moved to Singapore but came back to work in 1998 and have been here ever since! I have 2 lovely Birmans, assorted chickens and a few birds. I have a keen interest in biodiversity, Australian wildlife and habitat preservation and finished a Bachelor of Applied Science in ’98. I’m working just the 2 days now as the family keeps me pretty busy and hope to stay at Seaforth for a while yet.

Senior receptionist and Delta Trainer Virginia Pennefather

VirginiaI am a Delta Society (Australia) Accredited Trainer (Certif. 4) and qualified veterinary nurse (Certif. 4). I have been conducting Puppy Preschool classes at Seaforth veterinary Hospital since 2003.

I live harmoniously with thee dogs, three chickens and one husband (in that order? Ed). I am actively involved in competitive obedience and agility and have achieved all ANKC (Australian National Kennel Club) titles at the top trial levels. In 2002 I won the novice Agility ring at Sydney's Royal Easter Show.
